White Hat Ball 2022 - interview with Rela8 Group CEO
Coming back for our third year, Rela8 Group are thrilled to once again be sponsoring the White Hat Ball to help raise money for NSPCC Childline.
Since starting 17 years ago the White Hat Ball has raised over a staggering £2 million for the NSPCC. We at Rela8 Group couldn’t be prouder to have played even just a small part in that success for such an important cause. Sitting down with Rela8 Group CEO & Founder, Paul Gibson, we ask why giving back is so important, and why the White Hat Ball makes a perfect partner for Rela8 Group.
Why did you choose to sponsor the White Hat Ball?
Rela8 Group is a family run business. I myself am a father of three, many of our staff are starting their own families – it’s a cause that is incredibly close to all of our hearts. The amazing people at the White Hat Ball share this passion for protecting and supporting innocent children which made the choice to work with them a no-brainer.
Also, it doesn’t hurt that we share communities in the IT and Security industry! We understand the generosity of the community well and have a greater scope for making a meaningful difference.
How else is Rela8 Group giving back?
As we grow, more opportunities are opening up for us to do more. At our recent TLC Reconnect event, we held a charity raffle that raised £4,000 for the NSPCC. Our Delegate Donation campaign that gave the delegates attending our roundtable events the option of a £15/$20 lunch voucher or to have it donated to charity raised over £6,000 in 2020, but in 2021 we managed to raise over £10,000! We look forward to seeing donations grow alongside our business.
Outside of donating to charity, we also work closely with our community to play our part in improving it. We are speaking to industry members and running campaigns to help tackle and destigmatise the mental health and corporate burnout crisis. We’re also looking to expand these initiatives to diversity and inclusion, as well as closing the skills gap and getting young people into the industry.
Why is it so important for you?
We have seen first-hand the impact that the last few years have had, and we all need to be doing everything we can to lighten the load. We have grown rapidly over the last few years and as industry leaders we need to carry our weight and lead the way.
Charity, and crucially, our values of trust, honesty and integrity are a core part of our DNA, and we don’t want to lose sight of that as we grow.
What would you like to say to the people attending this year’s Ball?
Firstly, a massive thank you for the generosity and continued support! We see how the community comes together to support each other in our roundtables and we’re proud to have played a part in fostering that growth and collaboration. Secondly, dig deep and donate, it’s for a great cause!
